Start with your itinerary first. India is big and if you are coming here for the first time then we would suggest you to visit these places:
- Delhi – This is the capital of India. Full of history and culture. Go to old delhi walk, red fort, qutub minar, akashardham temple, and explore the markets in central Delhi. 2 days are more than enough for Delhi.
- Agra – That’s where the Taj Mahal is. Hire a private taxy and guide from Tripadvisor or airbnb experiences and you’ll be good to go. You can also do it on your own. Take a train from New Delhi railway station and reach Agra. Go to Taj Mahal and wander on. 1 day is really enough here but 2 are relaxing.
- Jaipur – Take a bus, taxy from Agra and go to Jaipur. Its an amazing city with lots of forts, palaces, markets, and culture that you wouldn’t see anywhere else. Spend about 2 days here and visit nearby places too like the monkey temple, Chowki Dhani, etc.
- Varanasi – this could be end to your trip to India. Varanasi is an ultimate destination full of spirituality, lessons and peace. Take a heritage walking tour to the old city and visit Manikarnika ghat, Kashi Vishwanath temple, Dashashwamed ghat and witness the evening Ganga Aarti at 6:30 pm everyday.
This is the minimum you should do on your trip to India as a beginner.
Once the itinerary is shortened then comes the booking plans. Decide the month you wan to visit. The best time to come is between October till April. Book your flight and accommodation in advance because seats fill out really fast.
Apply for an evisa once you are ready at least 2 weeks before so that you get your entry tickets to India on time and you fly!
India is really a welcoming country. The people are good but the planning makes it even better. Avoid tourist scams since they are everywhere. Don’t trust anyone, research, book through trusted apps and websites.
If you ever come to India and visit Varanasi, we would like to help. If you need any information regarding itinerary planning, feel free to DM.
